01 / SKILLS & EMPLOYMENT

Learning a skill.
Finding a livelihood.

Working with local NGOs Jagriti and the Sudhamta Foundation, Avni established three training and tailoring units to help women develop employable skills. She connected participants with local businesses, designers, and boutiques, helping 26+ women secure jobs.

02 / ADOPT-A-MACHINE

Opportunity, closer to home.

For women whose domestic responsibilities limit travel for work, access to equipment can open up new possibilities. Through Adopt-a-Machine, Avni secured 7+ sponsorships to support access to sewing machines and tailoring opportunities in homes and community spaces.

The work behind
every thread.

At the Indian Council for Cultural Relations in Kolkata, Avni curated an exhibition exploring Bengal·s textiles and the women·s labour behind them. Textile displays and her own mural connected traditional crafts with contemporary questions of gender, dignity, and economic independence.
